Q.  What inspired you to start Sea Môr Kayaking?

A.  We both love the North Wales coast and its wildlife and sea kayaking is one of the best ways of experiencing it. So we set up Sea Môr Kayaking to help people enjoy the coast safely and responsibly whilst developing their paddling skills. As 2018 was Visit Wales 'Year of the Sea' this helped to inspire us into action.

Q. What is the significance of the name Sea Môr Kayaking?

A.  We chose the name as it is a little bit of a play on words. Môr is the Welsh word for sea and as we are both Welsh we felt it was important to include some reference to our Welsh identity in our name. Sea Môr sounds rather like ' see more' in English. We like this implication as we feel that exploring by sea kayak you do see more!

Q.  Where are you based?

A.  We are trading out of and sharing facilities with Snowdonia Watersports, who are based at 'the lagoons' on the shore of Llyn Padarn; the lake just outside Llanberis. Llanberis is a world famous tourism destination at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales.

Q.  What facilities do you have?

A.  We have access to a meeting room, toilets, showers and drying room at Snowdonia Watersports. We can transport you and your kit from there to local coastal destinations, usually less than an hour's drive away.

Q.  Can I rent/hire kayaks and equipment separately from Sea Môr Kayaking?

A.  No, our kayaks and equipment are reserved for people booked on our courses. If you want to hire kayaks for your own use before or after the course has finished, you can do so through Snowdonia Watersports (subject to availability) or other hire companies.

Q.  What kayaks do you have?

A.  We generally use single sea kayaks unless the course description indicates otherwise

Q.  What other equipment do you supply?

A.  Paddles, wetsuits, spraydecks, buoyancy aids and helmets. You will need  your own footwear such as old trainers.

Q. Do you supply food and drinks?

A. Please bring your own packed lunch with plenty of snacks to fuel an energetic day on the water. There is a cafe open to the public at Snowdonia Watersports.

Q. What else should I bring?

A. If you are using our equipment, you will need swimwear to wear underneath the wetsuit. We suggest a bikini or tankini for ladies. Please bring a spare top and fleece to change into for your own comfort at lunchtime. If you plan to use your own kayaking equipment please  bring all your normal paddling equipment.

Q. What else can I bring?

A. Cameras and phones can be transported in a dry bag in your kayak's hatch (personal possessions are carried at your own risk). We carry a waterproof camera on every trip and we will make photos available as soon as possible afterwards.

Q.  Do you only do trips for beginners?

A.  No, we can tailor bespoke trips to most group types. Please call us for an informal chat about your needs and interests.

Q. Is there a lower age limit for children?

A. Children from the age of 12 are able to come kayaking with us on the single taster days at Padarn Lake. They must be over 14 to come out on a sea trip. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Younger children are welcome to join in our family specific activities.

Q.  Is booking necessary? / How do I book?

A.  Yes, booking is essential, and you can do so on this website. We do occasionally have last minute availability...please call us on 07399768660.

Q.  Can I book over the phone or by email?

A.  Yes, please call us on 07399768660 or email info@seamorkayaking.wales and payment can be made by direct bank transfer.

Q. What should I do if I need to cancel?

Please refer to our booking terms and conditions for cancellation penalties, but please inform us as soon as possible so we can try and amend your booking (subject to an amendment fee) if possible. We will do all we can to try and re-book you, but we strongly recommend travel insurance to cover you for illness and other unforeseen circumstances. We will go out in all but the worst weather conditions, but on the very rare occasion that we need to cancel then we will offer a free date change or a full refund.
